Shipping Policy
Swift Chem delivers laboratory chemicals, equipment, and consumables throughout South Africa using trusted courier partners. This policy should be read together with our Returns & Refunds Policy and is aligned with the Consumer Protection Act.
1. Shipping Methods
All orders are shipped via third-party courier companies. The courier selected will depend on your location, parcel size, and the nature of the goods.
2. Shipping Costs
Shipping fees are calculated at checkout based on:
- Delivery location
- Parcel dimensions and weight
- Type of goods (including special handling requirements)
The final shipping cost will be displayed before payment is completed.
3. Order Processing & Dispatch
- In-stock items are dispatched within 2 business days after payment confirmation
- Backorder items are dispatched within 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on supplier lead times
Where an order contains multiple items:
- In-stock items will be dispatched immediately
- Backordered items will be shipped separately once available (at no additional shipping cost unless otherwise agreed)
4. Delivery Time frames
Delivery typically occurs within 2 to 7 business days from the date of dispatch.
These timeframes are estimates and may be affected by courier operations, remote delivery locations, or other external factors.
5. Change of Delivery Address
Delivery details may be updated before dispatch by contacting info@swiftchem.co.za.
- Any change may result in revised shipping charges
- Once dispatched, delivery details cannot be changed
6. Parcels Damaged in Transit
If your order arrives damaged:
- Inspect the parcel at the time of delivery
- Report the issue within 48 hours to info@swiftchem.co.za
- Provide clear photographic evidence
In line with our Returns Policy, items damaged in transit qualify for a replacement or refund, and Swift Chem will manage the claims process with the courier.
7. Hazardous Goods & Chemical Shipments
Due to the nature of laboratory chemicals:
- Certain items may be classified as hazardous goods and require specialised packaging, handling, and transport compliance
- Delivery options and timelines for these items may differ from standard shipments
- Some products may be restricted from shipping to certain locations
Opened chemicals and reagents cannot be returned, except where required under the Consumer Protection Act (e.g., defective products).
Customers are responsible for:
- Ensuring proper storage conditions upon delivery
- Compliance with any applicable handling regulations
8. Import Duties & Taxes
Where products are sourced internationally:
- Import duties, VAT, and customs charges may apply
- These costs are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise stated
9. Delivery Responsibility
Customers must ensure:
- Accurate and complete delivery details
- Availability to receive the parcel
Swift Chem is not responsible for failed deliveries due to incorrect information provided by the customer.
10. Delays & Liability
Swift Chem is not liable for delays caused by:
- Courier service disruptions

However, we will keep customers informed of any significant delays.
